About

Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens, described as ‘The Finest Woodland Gardens in England’, were first planted in 1801. Located in the heart of West Sussex, the 240-acre Grade I Listed gardens feature an outstanding scenery throughout the year and particularly majestic as it blooms in spring or takes on the glorious colours of autumn.

For a perfect day out, make sure you visit:

The renowned Rock Garden created in 1890 by the famous Pulham & Sons.

The Dolls’ House Museum; created in 1:12 scale, the magical exhibition showcases scenes from a country estate in the 1900's.

The rare colony of wallabies and catch sight of the deer roaming free; and then enjoy refreshments at the Estates selection of cafés.

The beautiful woodland gardens are home to renowned Sculpture Anton Smit in an exhibition entitled ‘The Walk of Life’. The Sculpture Park & Art Gallery showcase the artist’s contemporary sculpture and life works. Comprised of over 50 monumental works, the sculptures sit in harmony with the woodland gardens, creating new vistas across the valley and our seven lakes.

Leonardslee is home to the first Pinotage vineyard in the UK, whilst our vines mature, visitors can enjoy wine tasting experiences from our sister estate Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate in South Africa.

Dine in style at Michelin Star Restaurant Interlude in the Grade II listed Leonardslee House, now with 10 bespoke charming bedrooms.
